FEES

Fees and Payment

Fees are set in accordance with the Psychologists Association of Alberta (PAA) fee schedule.

Rate is $220 per visit. Sessions typically last 50 minutes, leaving the last 10 minutes for documentation/notes.

Payment is due on the date of your appointment and may be made by e-transfer, or credit card. I am able to direct bill to some insurance companies and to Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). A receipt or claim statement is provided for all services.

In the event that you need to cancel your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Failure to do so may result in you being charged the time for that session.

Insurance Coverage

Counselling and therapy with a registered psychologist is covered under many extended health benefit plans. Please check with your insurance provider or with your human resources representative at your workplace. I am able to direct bill to a number of insurance companies including Alberta Blue Cross, Medavie Blue Cross, Canada Life, Claim Secure, Desjardins and Industrial Alliance. For companies such as Sunlife and Manulife, clients can submit receipts I provide for reimbursement. We can discuss whether you prefer direct billing or a receipt with all information necessary to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Fees that are not covered by your insurance program may be eligible as a medical expense deduction on your tax return.

PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL AsSessments

The psychoeducational assessment process consists of an initial meeting with the parent(s) to gather some background information and identify what assessment is appropriate for you/your child. I then meet with you/your child for approximately three to four hours to assess intellectual ability and academic skills using a variety of standardized assessment instruments. Depending on the referral question, I also gather some data related to behavior and social-emotional functioning from the parent(s) and school (with parent's permission, of course). I then generate a report for the individual/family and meet with the individual/family to discuss results; the teacher is welcome to attend this meeting where appropriate.

The cost for a psychoeducational assessment is dependent on the number and type of assessment tools required. If you wish to discuss whether an assessment is appropriate for you or your child and how much it will cost, don't hesitate to contact me.
